Educational Grant and Scholarship Program

For a child, a scholarship can be the deciding factor between pursuing higher education or having that opportunity slip out of reach. It opens doors to learning, growth, and a future filled with possibilities that might otherwise remain inaccessible. This directly reflects the Kiwanis International mission of improving the world one child and one community at a time by investing in the potentional of young people.

2026 Application

CRITERIA

  • Students interested in applying for a Kiwanis Educational Grant or Larry Frew Memorial scholarship may do so beginning January 15, 2026.
    • The deadline for applying for this scholarship has been extended to Friday, May 15, 2026. All completed applications must be postmarked through U. S. mail by this date. Mail to: Kiwanis – Kansas City – West –  12137 Hubbard Rd Kansas City, KS 66019
    • Scholarship funding is limited and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee scholarship selection.
    • All High School Seniors who live and are attending an accredited high school in Wyandotte County are eligible to apply.
    • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to be eligible.
    • This is a one-year scholarship, with no provisions for renewal.
    • Scholarship payout will be divided between Fall and Spring semesters.
    • A completed application includes:  
  • Grant application filled out,
  • A letter of recommendation from a school or activity representative (cannot be a family member)
  • A sealed original/ official transcript
  • Essay

Awards

  • Up to six Educational Grants will be awarded for $1000.00 each.
    • One individual may be awarded the Larry Frew Memorial Scholarship for $2000.00. (Must be a member of the Piper High School Key Club)
